Abstract

Nanomaterials have gained interest in multisector due to their size and specific properties. Metal oxide nanoparticles found its greater height in nanotechnology with various applications. In this article, Uniform nickel (II) oxide (NiO) nanosheets were successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method, followed by calcination. Synthesised NiO nanoparticles were characterized using various techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), and UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis). The size of the nanoparticles ranged from 10.43 to 19.13 nm which also shows a high crystalline nature. Moreover, the antibacterial activity of the synthesized NiO nanoparticles was also tested on Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli via agar disc diffusion method to observe the sensitivity of bacterial train. It was also found that the antibacterial activity increased with an increase in the concentration of NiO.
