Kinetic study of polymerization of acrylic acid using ammonium persulfate as initiator
Abstract
Ammonium persulfate (APS) was used for initiating the polymerization of acrylic acid in aqueous solution. The kinetics of the polymerization was studied by double titration method and the following rate equation Rg = k [AA] 1,3812 [APS] 0,4698 was obtained. The overall activation energy was found to be 76,28 kJ/mol within the temperature range of 65-75oC.
