Abstract

In some recent decades, with the rapid development of informatic technology, a series of gravity inversion methods are widely used in the World. With suggestion that density contrast of sedimentary basin is changed exponentially with depth, Granser (1987), Chai and Hinze (1988), Murthy (1989) Chenot and Debeglia (1990) solved them in the frequency domain to determine depth of sedimentary basin. The transform from the frequency domain into the space domain is

implemented by inverse Fourier transform method. To modernise analysing and interpreting geophysical data in Vietnam, research for application of this new and progressive methods, especially the solution of those to define the depth of density contrast surface is very necessary. Based on this idea, in this paper, we researched for the application of complex variable function method in 2D gravity inversion solution to determine the vertex coordinates of the object with polygonal cross section as well as depth to density contrast surfaces. Algorithm is programed in Matlab code to atempt on bouth mathematical models as well as some profiles

of gravity pratical data obseved on Vietnamese shelf. The results received in espect of precision, convergence as well as feasibility computer time show the ability of application of the method.
