QOS ADAPTIVE CONTROL ALGORITHM FOR APPLICATION-AWARE ADAPTIVE MIDDLEWARE

Abstract
In a distributed environment, many applications compete and share a limited amount ofsystem resources. Due to the statistical share of resources to multiple applications and a dynamicnumber of application tasks, the resource availability is in fluctuation and unpredictability. Inorder to guarantee QoS, these applications have to suffer from variations in resource availabilityand adapt their behaviors. In [I], we proposed an application-aware adaptive middlewarearchitecture which allows controlling adaptive behaviors of applications and achieving thedesired QoS level. This paper proposes a novel QoS adaptive control algorithm for thisarchitecture, examines the stability and equilibrium of this algorithm using the classical controltheory principles. The simulation result shows the validation of our algorithm.
