IMPLEMENTING THE PROVINCIAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION INDEX (PEPI) IN PHU YEN PROVINCE AND SOME DISCUSSED ISSUES

Abstract

PEPI is the basis for evaluating and ranking the environmental protection performance of provinces, creating motivation for localities to continue promoting resources to increasingly improve the quality of natural habitat. The process of implementing the PEPI in Phu Yen province in 2021 and 2022 confirmed the great efforts of the locality in building the goals, contents and solutions for local environmental protection, and the achieved results as well as the remaining problems. At the same time, practical findings from Phu Yen province also pointed out some limitations in the contents, measurements, calculation methods, and implementation time of the index that need to be changed, supplemented and adjusted to improve the quality and effectiveness of the PEPI.
