Abstract

The article employs existing sources to provide an introduction to Muted Group Theory (MGT). The article not only outlines the theoretical underpinnings but also highlights global scientific research that applies the idea to varying extents across diverse socio-cultural situations worldwide. The silent group theory posits an explanation for the phenomenon of women's "silence" within society, wherein they frequently opt to conform to prevailing circumstances by refraining from vocalising their viewpoints. The idea has been extended beyond its basic domain of communication and women's language to encompass study on many target groups, including female convicts, ethnic minority women, individuals of diverse racial backgrounds, and female workers in industrial settings, among others. Thereby, in each study, the authors set specific goals for this silent, disadvantaged group to have a better life and be able to integrate into society.
