ETHNIC KNOWLEDGE IN THE NATURAL EXPLOITATION OF VIET PEOPLE IN THE MEKONG DELTA

Abstract

The Vietnamese has been residing in the Mekong Delta quite early. Along with other ethnic groups, they built and developed this region into a prosperous area. In that process, beside manufacturing process, the residents of the Vietnamese use their ethnic knowledge accumulated over many generations to exploit natural products to serve their life. With primary data collected through doing fieldwork and secondary documents collected from scientific articles about ethnic knowledge, this paper presents some issues as exploiting of land animals, amphibians, plant and fishing in rivers, canals, ponds... of Vietnamese in the Mekong Delta, and that is also considered as features in their livelihood as of other ethnic groups in this area.
