The fire resistance of reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures, the primary load-bearing components, plays a pivotal role in ensuring life safety and mitigating property damage in the event of a fire. This research focuses on the application of advanced numerical simulation techniques, specifically utilizing ANSYS APDL software, to evaluate the fire resistance of RC frame structures in airport terminals conforming to EUROCODE standards. A detailed numerical model is constructed based on geometrical parameters, material properties, and realistic fire scenarios, enabling a thorough analysis of temperature distribution, stress, and deformation behavior of the structures under elevated temperatures. The findings not only validate the efficacy of ANSYS APDL in fire resistance assessment but also provide critical insights into the structural behavior of RC under fire conditions. Consequently, the research proposes optimized design solutions and engineering measures to enhance fire resistance, thereby ensuring the safety and operational continuity of airport terminals.
Nguyen Phi Long Le Trung Phong Nguyen Trung Hieu Luu Hoang Phong Bản quyền (c) 2025 Tạp chí Khoa học và Công Nghệ Trường Đại học Xây dựng Miền Tây 2025-12-30 2025-12-30 15 4 16 Vacuum preloading solution to shorten consolidation time of weak soil foundations under structures https://vjol.info.vn/index.php/mtu/article/view/124376
This paper presents the mechanism, technical development, and practical applications of the vacuum preloading method in treating weak soil foundations. Six vertical breakwater cross-sections were analyzed using the Bishop method to calculate the factor of safety (FS), with the basic load combination. Subsequently, the Monte Carlo simulation method was employed in reliability analysis to determine the load factors and resistance factors. All calculation steps are performed on the MATLAB platform. The analysis results show that the safety level of the stability of breakwater foundations using LRFD depends largely on the variation of the soil strength. When designing using LRFD with a target reliability index of 3.0, the design using ASD is safer than the LRFD design if the variation in soil strength is small. However, when the coefficient of variation of soil strength is great, the ASD approach is often less safe than the LRFD.
Dang Van Phu Bản quyền (c) 2025 Tạp chí Khoa học và Công Nghệ Trường Đại học Xây dựng Miền Tây 2025-12-30 2025-12-30 15 24 32 Challenges and Barriers to Green airport development in Vietnam: Assessment of current situation and Recommendations https://vjol.info.vn/index.php/mtu/article/view/124380
In the context of the global aviation industry facing intense pressure from commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the demand for sustainable development, the transition to green airport models in Vietnam has become more urgent than ever. However, this process is encountering significant challenges and barriers. This paper examines the primary obstacles to green airport development in Vietnam through a field survey conducted at 22 airports, focusing on issues related to legal frameworks, financial resources, management capacity, technical infrastructure, technology, and multi-stakeholder coordination mechanisms. The results show that Vietnam’s airport system currently meets only basic environmental compliance requirements, with a low and inconsistent level of integration of green solutions, particularly at smaller and regional airports. Based on these findings, the paper proposes several policy recommendations to address barriers and promote the green transition process, aiming for sustainable development and carbon neutrality by 2050.
Phan Thanh Minh Nguyen Thi Yen Lien Bản quyền (c) 2025 Tạp chí Khoa học và Công Nghệ Trường Đại học Xây dựng Miền Tây 2025-12-30 2025-12-30 15 33 40 Introducing the method of improving soft soil by combining prefabricated vertical drains with the vacuum preloading method https://vjol.info.vn/index.php/mtu/article/view/124382
In the context of modern infrastructure development, addressing soft soil to ensure the durability and stability of construction projects has become critically important. In Vietnam, particularly in the Mekong Delta, soft soil with unstable geotechnical properties is widespread. An advanced and effective method for improving soft soil is the use of prefabricated vertical drains (PVD) combined with vacuum preloading. This paper provides a detailed overview of the method of treating soft soil using PVD in conjunction with vacuum pumping, covering theoretical foundations, construction procedures, and practical applications. Experimental results demonstrate that this method achieves over 90% consolidation, reduces settlement to below 20cm, and ensures the safety of structures in compliance with Vietnamese standards.
