Đảo Cồn Cỏ có thảm thực vật che phủ đến 75% bề mặt. Thảm thực vật ở đây khá phong phú về dạng sống và đa dạng về thành phần loài. Chỉ trên 250 ha đất bao gồm cả đất thịt và nền đá lộ đầu, đã có ít nhất là 238 loài thực vật thuộc 188 chi, 83 họ và 4 ngành hiện hữu, chứng tỏ rằng tính đa dạng sinh học thực vật ở đảo khá cao. Nguồn gen cây gỗ hoang dại, thích nghi cao với môi trường đảo là khá lớn (52 loài), có thể tận dụng để phát triển rừng và tôn tạo cảnh quan theo hướng phát triển bền vững.

ABSTRACT

Cồn Cỏ Isle includes a floristic composition which covers up to 75% its surface. The floristic composition in here is very abundant in terms of habitats and is diversified in species. Within only over 250 hectares of land including rich soil and emerging rock surface, there are at least 238 flora species which belong to the existing 188 genus, 83 families and 4 divisons. This means the bio-diversity of the flora system in here is quite high. The gene source of wild trees with high adaptation to the isle’s environment is very rich, which includes about 52 species and which can be made use to expand the forest and environment embellishment in accordance with requirements for sustainable development.
