Bài viết  trình bày về vị thế chiến lược của vùng biển Việt Nam nói chung và vùng biển miền Trung nói riêng trong con mắt của các vua đầu triều Nguyễn; những thách thức và giải pháp của triều Nguyễn trong việc bảo vệ vùng biển miền Trung; những thành tựu và hạn chế, bài học kinh nghiệm trong việc bảo vệ vùng biển miền Trung của triều Nguyễn.

ABSTRACT

 This paper presents strategic positions of the territorial waters of Vietnam in general and the territorial waters of Central Vietnam in particular in the view-points of the first Nguyễn Kings; the challenges and the solutions to the protection of the territorial waters of Central Vietnam; the achivements and the limitations as well as lessons of experience of protecting the territorial waters of Central Vietnam under the Nguyễn Dynasty.
