Tracing the origins of some pure Vietnamese idioms

Abstract

This article considers pure Vietnamese idioms to be the ones which are created by the Vietnamese people based on pure Vietnamese language materials, or the ones which are created by the Vietnamese people in conformity with their ways of thinking, reflecting their feelings and spiritual life on the basis of the classical literary allusions borrowed from Chinese. The article analyzes these idioms, explaining why different interpretations about their origins occur.
