Some effects of main clause-subordinate clause compound sentences
Abstract
Compound sentences and the orders of their clauses have been mentioned in very general terms and there have been no research devoted on this issue Based on the three fundamental aspects of theories of syntactics, semantics and pragmatics, and on the analysis 307 compound sentences with the main clauses preceding the subordinate clauses out of 431 compound sentences found in 8 different texts, the present article has highlighted that the order of those clauses can bring particular values of notification, linkage and mood to the sentences, which then can contribute a deeper and more subtle message of the whole text.
