Abstract
As a vital artery of international trade, the South China Sea has raised severe conflicts, mainly due to China’s geopolitical ambitions. This situation is posing several security problems in the South China Sea, not only among the countries directly involved in the dispute but also for the region and the world. Vietnam has emerged as China’s main rival in the South China Sea, therefore the maritime security has become an important issue for the development of the nation. The paper mainly discusses some issues arising on Vietnam’s current situation of maritime sovereignty and security in the South China Sea.
