Abstract

Freezing semen collected epididymal of fighting buffallo
This study was conducted to freeze spermatozoa collected from the epididymis of fighting
buffallo after slaughtering to achieve progressive motility of sperm after freezing ≥40%, abnormality
≤20% for using to improve the productivity and quality of buffalo herds in our country. 7 male
buffaloes (14 epididymis) participating in the final of Do Son buffalo fighting festival - Hai Phong,
organize the September 4, 2022 were successfully collected, preserved, exploited and frozen.
Progressive motility, ratio of abnormality sperm, sperm concentration/buffalo, total number of
sperm with straight progressive motility per buffalo before freezing of 7 buffaloes respectively
reached 75.00%, 11.98%, 816 millions and 7.88 billions sperm. Evaluation of semen quality after
freezing showed that, progressive motility of sperm after freezing 41,42%, abnormality sperm
13,48%. In which 5/7 buffaloes had standard semen quality, with progressive motility after freezing
reaching 48.00%, the ratio of abnormality sperm only 13.62% and the total number of standard
enough quality kept for use was 1,915 straws (383.00 straws per buffalo).
