The Dua Tpeng Festival of Khmer People in Loc Khanh Commune, Loc Ninh District, Binh Phuoc Province: Current Status and Preservation Solutions

Abstract

The Dua Tpeng Festival, held in Loc Khanh Commune, Loc Ninh District, Binh Phuoc Province, is a form of communal cultural activity of the Khmer people. It not only bears profound spiritual significance, reflecting their bond with nature, prayers for abundant harvests, and a prosperous life, but also serves as an occasion to strengthen solidarity. The festival includes activities such as rituals to harvest aquatic resources from the pond, folk dancing and singing, organising communal meals, etc., thereby creating a vibrant atmosphere and connecting the community. Nevertheless, current socio-economic transformations and urbanisation processes are posing numerous challenges to preserving this festival, requiring solutions to increase community participation, governmental support, and public awareness of its heritage value.
