THE RECEPTION OF TRAN NHAN TONG'S POEMS FROM NATIONALISM, CULTURAL AND ZEN AESTHETIC PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

Tran Nhan Tong is not only one of the wellknown authors in Ly – Tran Dynasties but also a historical figure with important roles such as an emperor, a monk and a founder of the fundamentalist sect in Vietnamese Buddhism history. Therefore, his literary works are a research topic attracting many researchers. This paper focuses on the reception of Tran Nhan Tong's poems from different viewpoints and methodologies in the 20th century to provide an overview of his compositions.
