Improving the legal provisions on insurance services in Vietnam under the commitments of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)

Abstract

This paper studies the agreements of  the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and Vietnam's commitments on insurance services under CPTPP with the five main contents including cross-border supply of insurance services, expedited availability of insurance services, new insurance service supply, senior management and boards of directors of insurance businesses, and the maintenance of cautious measures in order to balance the autonomy of member countries to make domestic regulations. Based on the comprehensive assessment on Vietnam’s commitments on insurance services under the CPTPP, the paper offers some suggestions for the improvement of the current legal provisions on insurance services in Vietnam.
