Relationship between the right to access to information and the right to supervision of the people

Abstract

The paper analyses general theoretical issues of the right to access to information and the right to supervision of the people over state organs’ activities and points out the relationship between these two fundamental rights. It analyses the provisions of the 201t6 Law on access to information, points out the shortcomings of this Law in regard to the right to supervision of the people and offers some recommendations for improving the law  on access to information to raise the effectiveness of the people’s supervision.
