Abstract

Amid widespread regional economic integration, labour mobility in the ASEAN region has become an inevitable trend that increasingly requires appropriate legal adjustments. ASEAN countries have signed many treaties, agreements, and declarations that have preliminarily created a legal framework for labour liberalisation and protection of the social security rights of migrant workers in the region. The article analyses the labour migration situation in the ASEAN region, focusing mainly on countries such as Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc., and provides comments on labour migration trends in the region and the difficulties and limitations in ensuring the social security rights of migrant workers in terms of income protection, health, equality in employment opportunities, and access to social services such as education, health, housing, etc. Based on the results of studying the current legal situation, the article proposes requirements and solutions to improve social security laws for migrant workers in the ASEAN region in the context of harmonising regional and national laws on ensuring social security.
