Vietnam - Russia economic cooperation in the new context: Challenges and prospects

Abstract

Vietnam and Russia officially established diplomatic relations on January 30^th, 1950. Since then, despite some difficulties and limitations, Vietnam - Russia bilateral relations have developed strongly in many fields. In the economic field, cooperation between the two countries has developed strongly over the past years. However, the Russia - Ukraine conflict since 2022 has negatively impacted this area. The article analyzes the causes leading to this negative trend in recent times, assesses the challenges and prospects in the coming years, and proposes a number of solutions for Vietnam to promote economic cooperation between the two countries to a new level, in line with the spirit of comprehensive strategic partnership.
