Light polarization, Brewster’s angle, rotate the polarization plane
Tóm tắt
This article presents two experiments in the chapter of light polarization: Brewster’s angle and rotation
of the polarization plane in sugar solution. Brewster’s angle is an angle of incidence at which light with a
particular polarization is perfectly transmitted through a transparent dielectric surface, with no reflection.
When unpolarized light is incident at this angle, the light that is reflected from the surface is therefore
perfectly polarized. Optically active substance such as sugar solution rotate the polarization plane of the
light passing through them. The optical activity is brought about by the form of the sugar molecules in the
sugar solution.
