Abstract: This research clarifies the role of the “National Criminal Code” in protecting women’s rights in marital relationships during the early Le Dynasty. Despite Confucian influences, the code recognized and protected women's rights in marriage at three stages: before, during, and after marriage. The study also explores how this code maintained fairness in a society where power was primarily in the hands of men. The research provides insight into historical efforts to protect women's rights, comparing them with modern advancements in gender equality.
