THE SUBSTANCE OF WOMEN’S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION RIGHTS IN THE LEGAL SYSTEM OF VIET NAM

Abstract: This article analyzes women’s political participation rights within Vietnam’s legal framework, emphasizing gender equality in promoting women’s political engagement. From the 1946 to the 2013 Constitutions, Vietnam’s laws have been continuously improved, affirming gender equality in politics, elections, candidacy, governance, and national decision-making. The Law on Gender Equality and related regulations have concretized these rights, including minimum female candidate quotas. These policies reflect Vietnam’s commitment to substantive gender equality, overcoming historical and social barriers, and aligning with international standards. The article also stresses the interplay of legal frameworks and political directives in enhancing women’s representation in power institutions.
