Abstract

The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is increasingly used for various research purposes and is considered essential input data of the Geographic Information System (GIS). In the development process, Binh Minh ward, Lao Cai city, has many construction programs and projects that have changed a lot in topography and land shape. Therefore, building a DEM in Binh Minh ward aims to better serve the management of the current land topography, have a spatial visualization, thereby giving space management and planning orientations in the future. There are many methods of DEM construction, but to save time, cost and have advantages in accuracy compared to traditional methods, in this article, the author uses ArcGIS to build DEM from remote sensing images on Google Earth. The article's results evaluated the topography and soil shape of the ward in the period 2010-2020, applied Google Earth, and ArcGIS to get the elevation score of the study area and established a DEM model in the study area. The built-up DEM model shows the advantages of saving time and costs compared to traditional methods.
