EVALUATION THE INITIAL RESULTS RAISING HOLSTEIN FRIESIAN COWS AT TH TRUE MILK DAIRY FARM IN PHU YEN

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the initial results on growth performance, reproduction, milk yield and feed intake of Holstein Friesian (HF) heifers and HF cows raising at TH True Milk dairy farm in Phu Yen. This study used the common research methods in animal science. The results of this study showed that the HF heifers were raised at Phu Yen dairy farm that had body weight at 6, 9, 12, and 15 months of age to be 158.85; 231.02; 292.73; and 348.39 kg/head, respectively. Average daily gain was 619.55 - 892.99 g/head/day in the period of 4 to 13 months of age. The body weight at newborn of HF calves was 36.65 kg and the weaned body weight of HF calves was 83.88 kg. The withers height of HF heifers at 14 months of age was 125.11 cm. The HF heifers raised at Phu Yen dairy farm have the first mating at 15.34 months of age and the first give birth at 25 months of age. The HF cows that were raised at Phu Yen dairy farm had the milk yield from 22.82 to 30.97 liters/cow/day in the period of 0 to 150 days of lactation. The dairy cow group had feed intake to be 19.23 kg dry matter/cow/day and feed efficiency to be 1.46 liters of milk per kg feed dry matter. It is concluded that the HF heifers and HF cows raised at Phu Yen dairy farm had basically the growth performance, reproduction, milk yield and feed intake to meet the standard requirements.
