Abstract

The implementation of the 2018 general education program aimed to foster the comprehensive development of learners' qualities and competencies, allowing teachers to employ various pedagogical approaches. Board game is a game genre that was born very early in European countries and gradually became familiar to Vietnamese youth such as chess, checkers, seahorse chess, etc. In this article we propose a process of making board games that are suitable in Vietnamese context, aligned with the standard learning outcomes of the 2018 general education program based on literature about teaching using board games and the methodology of design thinking. Using this process, we have designed a board game to support teaching as an assessment tool for the content "Electromagnetic field" in the upper secondary program. For the next research direction, we will develop different board games for the content "Electromagnetic fields" and do pedagogical experiments to bring board games into use.
