Abstract

Operational organization plays an important role in the management and operation of irrigation systems, as well as enhancing the performanance of these systems especially large-scale ones.  For years, the management of irrigation system in Vietnam has been gradually improved to match the market mechanism. However, the organizational model and managing mechanism of large-scale irrigation systems still remain limited and unsuitable, leading to the low performance. Therefore, this paper is to research and propose theoretical to improve the organizational model of management of large-scale irrigation systems in Vietnam. Main contents of this study cover the analysis of operational features, organizational status and factors affecting the organizational model of large-scale irrigation systems in Vietnam. Proposed contents based on study results includes 5 principles, 3 criteria and contents to develop appropriate organizational models for large-scale irrigation systems relevant to the context of Vietnam
