Abstract

Slope stability plays a crucial complex role in geotechnical engineering applications. Bored piles are likely to stabilize slopes tending to be changeable and enhance slope stability. This measure has become one of the popular reinforcement methods, widely applied in the world, including Vietnam, over recent years. A method to identify the shear strength of bored piles in design calculations reflects the most accurate actual behavior of bored piles. Such a three-dimensional analysis software as Plaxis 3D will eliminate all the limitations when assessing the stability of slopes reinforced with drilled piers, such as the impact of the distance of drilled piers and the influence of three-dimensional changes of physical indicators of soil and pore water pressure. The method is synchronously applied in designing riverbanks of the Bui River to ensure long-term stability by retaining walls combined with bored piles
