INDIVIDUAL SOCIAL WORK FOR PERSONS WITH MOBILITY DISABILITIES AT THE CENTER FOR SOCIAL PROTECTION AND NURSING CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH MERITORIOUS SERVICES OF TAY NINH PROVINCE
Abstract
Based on in-depth interviews with 12 individuals and a survey of 32 people with mobility disabilities in 2022, the pager clarifies the current situation of individual social work for people with mobility disabilities at the Center for Social Protection and Nursing Care for People with Meritorious Services of Tay Ninh Province. The research results show that the Center provides key services such as counseling, crisis intervention, and case management. The role of social workers has been affirmed, however due to the lack of professionally trained staff, many social workers serve in concurrent/part-time positions. While the funding support for social workers is limited, the practice of social work for people with disabilities, especially people with mobility disabilities, continues to face significant challenges. Many individuals with disabilities have not received adequate care, their needs have not been fully assessed, and they still lack of access to appropriate support services.
