The Impact of Perceived Value of Tourism Development on Local Community Support in Nha Trang

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of perceived value of tourism development on local community support for sustainable tourism. The research is based on Social Exchange Theory and Bottom-up Spillover Theory, utilizing a quota sampling method to collect data from 668 respondents. The data were analyzed using the SmartPLS. Findings indicate that the perceived value of tourism development affects the quality of life of the local community. In turn, quality of life emerges as a strong predictor of local community support for tourism development. Accordingly, the study offers practical recommendations for local authorities to formulate inclusive policies aimed at improving local people’s living standards, promoting community support, and strengthening long-term sustainable tourism development in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.
