Abstract

n the current digital era, social media has emerged as a new space that enables students to access literary works beyond the classroom. This study, based on a survey of 301 high school students in Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi, aims to describe the frequency and forms in which literature appears on digital platforms. The results indicate that Vietnamese literature appears most frequently, though with limited levels of interaction, while Chinese literature dominates among foreign literary works. Literary content is mainly presented through excerpts, illustrative posts, short videos, and film adaptations, with short films being the most favored form. These trends reveal that students’ engagement with literature on social media remains fragmented and influenced by fast-content consumption habits. The study suggests enhancing the use of multimedia formats, expanding access to international literature, and strengthening teachers’ guiding role to improve students’ literary experiences in online environments.
