Kinetics of esterification of propionic acid and isobutanol to produce isobutyl propionate
Abstract
Esterification reaction of propionic acid and isobutanol to produce isobutyl propionate using homogeneous catalyst - H2SO4 - was investigated. The experiments were performedin a stirred batch reactor. Initial molar ratio of propionic acid to isobutanol was 1:2. In order to analyze the influence of temperature on the reaction rate, reactions at varied temperatures (303, 313 and 323K) were conducted. Kinetic parameters ofthe reaction were determined. Rate law of the reaction was also established.
