TRANSFORMATIONS OF TRADITIONAL HOUSES OF H\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ROI CHAM PEOPLE IN PHU YEN AREA UNDER THE IMPACT OF THE URBANIZATION
Abstract
With characteristics of architecture, decorative arts, history, culture, and traditions, the traditional houses of H\'roi people in Phu Yen area are considered valuable heritages. However, the housing architecture of Cham H\'roi residents alters in terms of garden layouts, architectural form, and usability after several historical upheavals, socio-economic developments, population growth, resettlement, the laxity of the management of planning and development of housing architecture, and especially the issues of urbanization. The image of the H\'roi Cham traditional houses, imbued with national cultural identity, is gradually disappearing. Based on field surveys (photography, measuring and drawing the current situation, interview…) and comparative methods, this study aims to assess the current status of housing changes of the Cham H\'roi in Phu Yen area in the context of urbanization. Thus, it will serve as the basis for proposing orientations and solutions for adaptive conservation.
