Enhancing depositor awareness of deposit insurance: international experience and lessons for Vietnam

Abstract

Deposit insurance is a vital instrument for protecting the rights of depositors and maintaining the stability of the financial system. This study analyzes the current state of depositor awareness regarding deposit insurance in Vietnam, identifies the factors influencing this awareness, and assesses the information needs related to deposit insurance policies. Using a methodology synthesized from reports, field surveys, and international experiences, the research proposes solutions to improve awareness through communication efforts and financial literacy programs. The findings aim to bolster depositor confidence in the financial system and contribute to overall financial stability in the coming period. Furthermore, the study provides a scientific basis for developing more effective policies and communication strategies regarding deposit insurance.
