Assessment of the current status of English certificate selection for meeting graduation requirements among medical students at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, 2022-2024

Abstract

The study was conducted with 1,400 English certificates submitted by medical students of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy for graduation consideration in the first phase of the 2022-2024, aiming to highlight the current situation and trends in choosing English certificates of students. The study was designed using a cross-sectional descriptive method. The data were collected and processed using statistical methods. The research results showed that Cambridge Tests was the most chosen certificate by students, followed by TOEIC and TOEFL, but with different trends for each course. IELTS and VSTEP were the least chosen by students but there were slight fluctuations between years. Further research will be conducted to clarify the reasons for students’ choice of English language certificates.
