Some characteristics of patients measured for ankle-brachial systolic blood pressure index at the cardiology department – Huu Nghi Hospital
Abstract
Introduce: Lower limb peripheral arterial disease is more popular on over the world as well as in Vietnam, but the symptoms are often atypical and easily missed. Measuring the ankle-brachial systolic blood pressure index (ABI) is a simple technique, non-invasive but has high diagnostic value, suitable for screening and early diagnosis, so it is increasingly performed in hospital. Objective: To study some characteristics of patients with ankle-brachial systolic blood pressure index at the cardiology department – Huu Nghi Hospital. Method: Descriptive cross – sectional study. Result: The study included 242 patients, male: 59,9%, average age: 78,4 ± 8,0. And 98 patients (40,5%) had abnormal ABI, mean age: 80,1 ± 8,5, male: 62%, hypertension ratio: 92,9%, lipid metabolism disorder:81,6%, diabetes: 27,6%, smoking: 31,6%. Conclusion: The rate of lower limb arterial stenosis in the study was quite high at 19,9%. In group of patients with abnormal ABI, mean age, male ratio, hypertension rate, diabetes rate and smoking rate are high.
