Abstract

Schools play an important role in response to disasters and climate change. Their important role in disaster response has been emphasized in international agreements and frameworks on the response. The establishment of the Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in Education (GADRRES) along with the formation of the Comprehensive School Safety Framework since 2013 is one of the important turning points. To date, the development of the framework has been paid attention to in many countries in the world, including Vietnam, in the period 2021-2030. This study aims to synthesize and analyze experiences of Indonesia and the Philipines in creating safe schools. The results of the study are aimed to suggesting policy implications to Vietnam during the implementation of the Safe School Program from 2021 to 2030.
