Some epidemiological characteristics of Bacillary necrosis of Pangasius in An Giang, Dong Thap Provinces in 2014

Abstract

Study on some epidemiological characteristics of Bacillary necrosis of Pangasius was conducted at 600 Pangasius culture farms in 23 districts of An Giang, Dong Thap provinces. The studied result showed that:Epidemic occurred in most of the surveyed districts, normally from May to November yearly, with the average disease infection rate of the investigated farms was 45.8% (95% CI 41.78 – 49.86). Of which, the infection rate of pond was 37.30% (95% CI 34.57 – 40.08), the infection rate of culture areas was 34.63% (95% CI 31.43 – 37.95).The result of risky analysis indicated that the odds ratio of disease outbreak between the stocking rate of 200 fish/m2 and 10-50 fish/m2 was 2.21 (95% CI 1.40 – 3.55); the odds ratio between the culture ponds without removing mud and with removing mud was 2.21 (95% CI 1.40 – 3.55). This ratio between the farms disinfected farming tools and the farms did not disinfected farming tools was 3.58 (95% CI 2.34 – 5.48).
