Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study developing a method for accurately calculating additional losses due to the non-sinusoidal shape of the stator winding flux of an asynchronous motor. The numerical-analysis method for calculating the spatio-temporal harmonics of the flux in the stator winding of an asynchronous motor is developed by comprehensively considering the combined effects of all higher-order harmonics, including: the current caused by the semiconductor converter; the non-linearity of the magnetic circuit due to magnetic saturation; and geometric factors (especially the slot chamfer value). Verification of the developed model based on practical experiments to confirm the suitability and practical applicability of the developed method is presented. The advantage of the method in calculating additional losses is a reduction in error of up to 15% compared to traditional methods, demonstrated by the results of numerical experiments and comparison with data obtained using the finite element method.
