Abstract

With the increasing demand for raw materials, particularly clay for cement production, assessing quality, reserves, and mining feasibility is essential. Hoa Binh Province has significant potential for clay as a raw material for Portland cement, including the An Binh mine area. Based on exploration results and data processing methods, this study provides an initial assessment of the clay quality in the investigated mine area and outlines the expected conditions for mining operations.

Analysis results indicate that the clay in the mine area primarily consists of shale and silty shale, which have undergone strong to moderate weathering. The main mineral components include sericite, kaolinite, etc. The concentrations of key oxides (SiO, AlO, FeO) and loss on ignition (LOI) are relatively uniform to highly uniform and meet the standards for cement raw materials. The physical-mechanical properties and radioactivity levels are within permissible limits. Mining conditions in the area are generally simple and can be adjusted depending on the degree of weathering (strong or moderate).

These fundamental findings help clarify the quality characteristics of the clay material and the mining conditions in the area, contributing to the efficient utilization of the mine for production.
