A study on structural analysis of a 3D frame pier structure based on fracture mechanics theory using SAP 2000 software
Abstract
SAP 2000 is a software that allows accurate modelling of complex spatial frame structures under the influence of various types of complex loads; supports multiple types of analysis, including static, dynamic, and nonlinear analysis, which helps to comprehensively assess the load-bearing capacity of structures under different loads. The user-friendly, intuitive interface of this software makes it easy for users to input data and saves time by automating the calculation process and generating detailed results (internal force diagrams, stress, deformation). In this article, the author uses SAP 2000 to calculate the internal forces for a spatial frame-type pier structure, then applies fracture mechanics theory to compute the cracks for a specific pier structure in Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh province). Accordingly, the author asserts that SAP 2000 serves as an effective tool for the structural design and analysis of reinforced concrete wharf frame systems operating under natural environmental conditions and subjected to severe service loads. Additionally, it is recommended to integrate fracture mechanics theory into pier design to ensure safety and achieve the highest economic efficiency.
