POTENTIAL FOR DEVELOPING TOURISM ASSOCIATED WITH KHMER PAGODA IN THE MEKONG DELTA REGION
Abstract
The aim of this research is to analyze the potential for the development of Khmer pagodas in the Mekong Delta region. The research involved surveying 115 tourists at Khmer pagodas engaged in tourism activities to assess the conditions for developing this type of tourism. The results indicate that tourists hold a positive view of the tangible, intangible and accessibility aspects of these pagodas. However, challenges persist regarding infrastructure, security and accommodation, dining facilities. Consequently, the research proposes solutions for the development of this tourism sector in the Mekong Delta region, including creating tourist routes, collaborating with travel agencies, enhancing the visitor experience, raising awareness among temple management, improving infrastructure and accommodation, dining services, developing local cuisine, enhancing the tourism workforce and marketing, advertising strategies.
