This study was conducted to formulate and establish quality standards for the mouth and throat rinse product "K9 Gargle," with main ingredients being alum (KAl(SO₄)₂·12H₂O) and table salt (NaCl). The study also aims to evaluate the product's effectiveness in improving halitosis, tongue coating, and tooth color after one month of use. This was a controlled clinical intervention study involving 165 male participants, divided into two groups: the intervention group using K9 Gargle (131 participants – Group II), and the control group not using any mouth rinse (34 participants – Group I). The average age of the participants was 19.27 ± 1.8 years, with no significant difference in age between the two groups. The results showed that after one month of use, self-reported improvement in halitosis was 34.4% in Group II, compared to 11.8% in Group I; according to examiner evaluation, the corresponding rates were 46.6% in Group II and 0% in Group I (p < 0.01). For tongue coating, 32.8% of participants in Group II showed improvement, significantly higher than 14.7% in Group I; the proportion of participants with worsened tongue coating in Group II was markedly lower (32.8% vs. 79.4%; p < 0.01). There was no statistically significant difference in tooth color changes between the two groups (p > 0.05). In terms of user satisfaction, 64.3% reported being very satisfied, 22.4% satisfied, and 14.3% dissatisfied with the taste of the K9 Gargle solution. In conclusion, the K9 mouthwash is effective in reducing halitosis and tongue coating without affecting tooth color after one month of use. The majority of users are satisfied with the taste of the K9 mouthwash.
