The study aims to describe the situation of corticosteroid use, determine the rate of clinically significant drug interactions, and evaluate the rationality of corticosteroid use in outpatient treatment at Can Tho Ear, Nose, and Throat Hospital. A retrospective cross–sectional study was conducted on 369 prescriptions containing two or more medications and prescribing corticosteroids from January 2024 to December 2024. Prescriptions were selected using a systematic random sampling method. The results showed that patients aged 41–60 years old accounted for the highest proportion (34.1%), were predominantly female (55.8%), and had co–morbidities (83.5%). Corticosteroids were most frequently used for sinusitis (33.1%). Methylprednisolon was the most commonly prescribed active ingredient (66.3%), with the oral route of administration being dominant (68.3%). Clinically significant drug interactions were found in 3.0% of prescriptions. The interaction pair methylprednisolon + ciprofloxacin accounted for 81.8%, and prednisolone + ciprofloxacin accounted for 18.2%. The rationality rates of corticosteroid prescription were: 99.7% based on disease diagnosis, 97.8% based on the route of administration, 100.0% based on the time of use, and 97.8% based on drug dosage/strength.
