Abstract

Abstract: As a neighbouring country with significant economic and political
similarities to Viet Nam—and home to the world’s largest carbon market—China
offers a valuable reference point. Its market model merits careful consideration as Viet
Nam develops and pilots its carbon market through the end of 2028. This article
analyses China’s policies, legal framework, and practical operation of its emissions
trading system, and offers recommendations for the development of a carbon market in
Viet Nam.
