Exploring Potential to Develop Trekking Tourism in Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province

Abstract

Trekking tourism has existed in Vietnam for about 20 years. In Lao Cai, after Sa Pa, trekking tourism in Bat Xat began to be known to tourists since 2012, then in 2017 when the successful organization of the "Conquer Lao Than Peak" mountain climbing competition was held, this was the premise for the development of trekking tourism, Bat Xat is considered a paradise for this type of tourism. With unique natural landscapes, many high mountain peaks in the top 10 and top 20 of Vietnam, along with a rich cultural identity and reasonable tourism development policies, Bat Xat district has great potential to become a leading trekking destination in Vietnam. Exploiting and developing this type of tourism not only brings economic benefits but also contributes to protecting the environment and preserving local culture, creating sustainable values for the community and tourism industry of Lao Cai province.
