Legal regulation of conflicts of interest in economic policy-making

Abstract
Abstract: Conflicts of interest (COI) in economic policy formulation constitute one
of the major challenges to the rule-of-law state and modern public governance. If not
effectively controlled, COI can undermine the integrity, fairness, and public-interest
objectives of policies, thereby eroding public trust. This article analyzes and clarifies the
theoretical issues concerning COI in economic policy formulation, including their concept,
characteristics, manifestations, and the role of law in identifying, preventing, controlling,
and addressing such conflicts. In addition, the article examines and assesses the current state
of Vietnamese law on the control of COI in economic policy formulation, and on that basis
proposes solutions for improving the legal framework in order to ensure integrity, fairness,
and effectiveness in economic policy formulation.
