IDENTIFYING AI-ENABLED TACTICS FOR SPREADING DISTORTED NARRATIVES ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND PREVENTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE PEOPLE’S PUBLIC SECURITY FORCES

Abstract

Abstract: This article analyzes the methods by which artificial intelligence (AI) is exploited 
to create and disseminate misinformation and distorted narratives on social media platforms, 
including the generation of fake news through large language models, the use of deepfake 
technology, the personalization of propaganda content, the operation of automated bots, and the 
creation of artificial bandwagon effects. Based on an assessment of current practices and the 
challenges associated with detecting, tracing, removing, and handling unlawful content, the article 
proposes several measures to enhance preventive efforts within the functions and responsibilities 
of the People’s Public Security Forces. These measures include improving the legal framework, 
strengthening the application of technological tools, enhancing human resource capacity, promoting 
public awareness and education, and increasing cooperation with technology platforms
