Abstract

Vietnam is entering a phase of very rapid population ageing. Older persons are a health-vulnerable group that requires special and continuous care. However, ensuring the right to health care for older persons in practice still faces many shortcomings, including a lack of specialized geriatric health services, uneven quality of care, and a legal framework that has not fully responded to the specific needs of this population group. The article examines China’s policy and legal experience in elderly healthcare, compares it with Vietnam’s current legal framework, and proposes directions and solutions to improve Vietnam’s policies and laws.
