Abstract

In 2003, speaking at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland), Mr. Bertrand Ramcharan, Acting United Nations High Commissioner for human rights affirmed that there were many challenges to human rights in the modern world, and identified 12 outstanding issues. Recently, in 2019, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet spoke at the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, School of Law, University of Washington, USA also reaffirmed those issues and added some challenges concerning human rights. The article
synthesizes and analyzes the above challenges, thereby evaluating and suggesting some solutions to address human rights challenges in Vietnam.
